Bain Capital people came to see me in Palm Beach, Florida, at the end of April, I listened to them and then we had a few informal discussions and then it became more serious”--Esure Chairman Peter Wood.According to a report in Reuters, the company employs a total 1,850 persons in offices at Reigate, Manchester and Glasgow in the UK, and Bain cited esure’s “nimble and focused approach, lean structure and strong use of technology”. Chairman Peter Wood and Halifax Bank launched esure.com in 2001, and after a management buy-out in 2010, it became an independent company and listed on the London Stock Exchange in March 2013 at 290 pence per share.
Esure launched female-focused insurance brand "Sheilas’ Wheels" (domain: sheilaswheels.com) in 2005, and Esure's competition includes Aviva (LON: AV), RSA (LON: RSA), Direct Line (LON: DLG), Hastings (LON: HSTG) and Admiral (LON: ADM) in the UK's competitive car insurance market.
